Complexıty, culture and confusıon
When in doubt blame the culture? It’s a common refrain not just in Agile but in business in general. Executives frustrated when their best laid plans fail to gain traction, teams lacking commitment, old tensions and rivalries holding back change initiatives; all get blamed on culture. In practice (and in theory) the problem is far more complex and can’t be solved by top down driven initiatives based on statements about how things should be. In this keynote Snowden will take about the nature of complex problems, what can be managed and what has to emerge, or evolve as a result of multiple small, but coherent actions over time. He will outline how to map culture and identify the leverage points where change can be achieved with low energy investment. How to engage the whole of a workforce in managing the evolutionary potential of the present? How to measure impact and progress in change initiatives.
